When I began my blog in December of 2010, I had no idea about the journey which it would take me on. Starting off as a casual medium through which I would voice my thoughts, over a year on and Born to Run… And Write has experienced many exciting things, and has provided me both with great happiness, surprise, and a dream. Originally my posts would gain only a few dozen hits at time of publish, now that number ranges into the hundreds, and my blog has been viewed many thousands of times – I have received an extraordinary amount of support for my writing, and have met some wonderful people. It is with pleasure that I receive messages from people all over the world, from the beauty of Northern Norway, to Montenegro, to South Africa, and many wonderful places in-between. My blog has made it all the way to the Land Of Hope And Dreams itself – Asbury Park, New Jersey, and in December 2011 this blog was recognised by brucespringsteen.net – the website of my hero and saviour, and the man who, along with his band and music, dominates the content of my articles. It has been a great journey, and even in times of adversity I am confident that this is merely the beginning. I hope that further great things are to come, both for my writing, and more importantly for my friends and readers – the very people who make this pursuit worthwhile.
The message of this blog is simple – I write about life in all its truth, from its momentous beauty, to its depth of pain, but concentrate on how music in all its power and glory can often be the saviour for those suffering through the Human Condition. I refer to my own life, and Bruce Springsteen – a man without whom I would arguably not be writing this. To say that this blog is all about Bruce Springsteen would not be correct, however to say that the articles which make up this blog are thanks to Bruce Springsteen is entirely true. He has taught me the most important lessons of life, lead me through the hardest and darkest moments of life, and accompanies me through the happiest moments and pursuit of dreams in my life. I owe him everything, and thank him eternally. I feel that the best way I can thank him is by living my life honouring his message of love, strength, and compassion. It is a dream of mine to one day shake his hand, and share a moment with him, to say thank you and express my gratitude for his message and dedication to fans, and my love of his music. However, until that day, this blog – hosted at http://www.connorkirkpatrick.com – will remain one of the key ways that I can express my thanks to him, through (I hope) helping others by explaining my story with the intention of helping yours.
Often people who visit my blog leave comments asking if I have a contact address through which they can personally message me, so I leave you with my email – feel free to drop me a line! I always love speaking to the friends who make this blog worthwhile.
